Computer Science's Newest Genius
Congratulations to Daphne Koller, this year's MacArthur Fellow in computer science. Koller uses a strong mathematical approach to decision making and learning.
This is more good news for CS. It's not the case that there's a Computer Scientist MacArthur fellow announced every year, especially one in with an emphasis in theory. The MacArthur foundation website lists 12 Computer Scientists, with an interesting mix between theory, practitioners and advocates.
